The diary of a Biznessvirgin: For the ladies….

Few weeks ago, my mentor invited me to a closed group seminar put together by the European union for Female entrepreneurs in Nigeria.
The topic of discussion was Reducing Institutional and Cultural Barriers for Young Women’s Entrepreneurship .

A couple of accomplished and well experienced female entrepreneurs were in attendance (as panelists) to share their stories and provide guidance to upcoming female entrepreneurs.

The seminar was super refreshing, i picked up simple life lessons from the panelists and i will like to share some of them with female readers of this blog.

1) Be bold,be brave, do not be intimidated by cultural and institutional barriers you encounter along the way, you have all it takes to overcome.

2) Discover yourself, do not become what the society wants or expects you to be.

3) Always take out time to understand government policies and the working environment in which you operate.

4) Find time to mentor young female entrepreneurs coming after you.

5) Institutional and cultural barriers in our way as women cannot be brought down by one person, we need to come together and advocate as a group, there’s power in numbers.

6) Mentorship makes the journey faster and builds confidence in you as an entrepreneur, Find the mentors you need .

7) Be visible on social media for “the right things”.

8) Silence the noise in your head from societal expectations.

9) Build a track record that speaks for you.

10) Dream big, you can do it.
